As somebody who doesn’t eat beef unless it is halal (I am picky about how to eat beef), the only non-halal meat I consume outside of the home is chicken.
1. Chick-Fil-A
Is there even a reason necessary for this? Chick-Fil-A’s quality of chicken compares like no other fast food restaurant. Their chicken is always juicy and slightly tender (though I have never tried their grilled chicken). You might bite down on their chicken with the strips perpendicular to the bite — and you won’t even break a sweat to separate the meat. The only issue I have is their buns are too thin in some instances.
2. Wendy’s
The first time I tried Wendy’s was early July. I tried their Spicy Chicken sandwich and was thoroughly impressed at how piping hot it was when I took my first bite. It was significantly warm up to the last bite. I tried it again at a different location a few weeks back and though it wasn’t the same as my first experience, I still noted it to be significantly better than other locations.
3. Checkers
One of these opened up ten minutes away from me. I recall avoiding Checkers last year in Buffalo Niagara International Airport because of the somewhat tacky checkered design. I decided to give the place a shot. The serving size was surprising. Slightly smaller than other competitors’ offerings, I understood then why the price was so cheap. The chicken didn’t disappoint though.
I just wish fast food restaurants would stop throwing black pepper at their sandwiches and calling it spicy. That’s fucking weak.
I don’t eat at Whataburger, Buffalo Wild Wings, McDonald’s, Burger King, Raising Cane’s, Carl Jr’s/Hardee’s, pretty much any other fast food place because the chicken is never tender enough to get a clean bite and requires to much effort to rip off from the main piece. Chick-Fil-A’s spoiled me.
A new favorite addition of mine is Charley’s Philly Steaks, which I tried last year at Atlanta’s international airport and enjoyed the Chicken Buffalo. One opened inside the mall ten minutes from me. I enjoyed the meal which help up the fond memory I have of that first meal back in Atlanta.

This. I’m still pissed that they ditched the spicy chicken biscuit and never came through with the spicy nuggets though.

“though I have never tried their grilled chicken”
If the original chicken sandwich is #1 for you, then you’ll be disappointed in the grilled chicken. Granted, it’s not TERRIBLE, but it’s got nowhere near the flavor of the original.

There’s no Chick-fil-a in Canada (as far as I know) so Wendy’s spicy chicken is the best choice. My only wish is that there was a truly spicy version since this sandwich is not spicy at all.

There aren’t many chik-fil-a near me so I’ve never tried theirs (and I’m also leery of falling in love with a sandwich I can’t pick up hungover on a Sunday) but 100% on board with Wendy’s #1

I know a guy who is a multi-millionaire from providing halal certificates. Crazy to think that all he’s done to acquire his fortune is send people to processing plants to play a cassette of a prayer.

No Popeye’s on this list? Blasphemy. Their Chicken Strip Po’Boy is the best ever. Especially when you order it correctly: spicy chicken and extra pickles. Don’t forget the Louisiana hot sauce, either.

Tim Horton’s spicy chicken is a bit spicier, and I enjoy the not-quite-a-burger aspect, but it still is lacking something somehow.

I used to go Wendy’s #1, but recently I’ve gotten some where the meat is tough and chewey and kind of gross. Happened randomly at 3 different locations so far :(

Man.... The biscuit didn’t fare well for me. I just found it too cloggy when swallowing.

Hmm... I’ve never actually been to the fried chicken joints unless it was brought home by somebody else. I’ll have to give it a try.

Yes, I’ve heard of factories doing that, and I have to always make sure to stay away from meat supplied like that. Though it doesn’t matter much since I still eat non-halal chicken. For Muslims who do adhere to the halal standard, it comes down to whether they have the financial means to acquire the meat or not. If halal meat isn’t available, then it’s permissible to eat non-halal meat. Still, the permissibility is a huge grey area that takes deeper explaining.

Agreed. You taste black pepper and it’s not even spicy.

That’s what sucks about fast food... There’s never consistency in the quality of food, whether it be the same or different location. The only place that gives consistency all the time is Chick-fil-a.

I’ll likely never be able to try it — the closest and only one near me is a thirty minute drive into the city.

It’s on par with Chik fil A. Not worth a 30 min drive, but suprisingly good.

I agree with 1&2, never tried the others. I will add the caveat that Wendy’s grilled chicken sandwich is absolutely vile and disgusting.

The only Chik-fil-a near me is in a hoity-toity mall (Somerset Collection.) I thought I’d swing by there yesterday since I had the day off. Stupid me didn’t remember that school was out too, so a lot of people also took vacation days. The line was so long when I got there I just walked right out. No fast food sandwich is worth standing in line for an hour listening to a bunch of rich brats.

If it’s ever possible, you’ll want to find a stand alone chick-fil-a. Much less crowded than the chick-fil-a’s in malls
